Power To the People!

What an interesting general election this will be.
You see, everybody is saying that the incumbent coalition will be badly thrashed this time.
But will it? Really?
Why do you say that it will be?
Is it because EVERYONE is unhappy with its performance?
Is EVERYONE so unhappy with the Prime Minister and his abdication of duty?
Does EVERYONE regard his holidaying abroad as holidaying abroad or WORKING HARD TO SELL THE COUNTRY?
(Pssst.... not sell off the country as some people believe. Well, not yet, anyway.)

You've gotta be realistic.
The coalition's heartland is rural Malaysia. Where does the heart and mind of rural folk lie?
Are they still believing the propaganda machine of the Information Ministry? hook, line and sinker?
You can laugh at the un-hip-ness of RTM and their outmoded strategy to influence the population.
In fact, no strategy at all. But it works on the rural mass.
Let me tell you that in the absence of any medium other than TV and radio, man...RTM sells!
Your fishermen and padi farmer do not have computers and do not even know what a blog is.
The internet is a powerful tool for politicians and these politicians can reach out to voters that way.
Bloggers can bitch about the coalition all they want but do they reach out to the majority of the people?

If voters read Rocky's Bru and believe what he says, then it's adieu to the coalition.

So, whatever your beliefs are, this is the time to put them in the ballot box.
Yeah.

Power to the people!

The bloggers community is too small to make an impact. Bloggers wont be going around around to inform the masses who don't read blogs to know more than what they read in the papers or TVs both of which will just promote the governments propaganda.
Hopefully a dent will be made on the two third majority that they are so scared to lose. Let us make it happen this time.

Hi Eva...long overdue salutations. It is becoming exasperating for this tires old thing. The mood is that the opposition can make their mark this time around. And now you hear that they are still bickering. they cannot understand what a united opposition front is all about. We just do not want any three-cornered fights.they are still in the pimply adolescent stage.....still in state of conflicting pubertic angst. Pray lah,the recalcitrants see the light.
And also get that lazy-bugger cyber boyfiend of yours OBE off his butt. He has not been at it. You think he is love-sick? I try not to believe this....that his middle name is "sinister". Ciao....come visit, huh?

zawi,

exactly. internet is only accessed by 10 per cent of the malaysian population.
and that is why the Barisan will win AGAIN!

except in Kelantan!

Not even the promise to MERAWAT Kelantan can do the trick.

Zorro,
i know what you mean. I think so many Malaysians are so ready to vote OUT the BN but they have no confidence in the Opposition because the opposition still have not got their act together.

Jesus Lord in Heaven! What's wrong with them? They had so much time to get together to give a damn good act, and they can't.

OBE....what's he been up to? Campaigning? Attaboy! My honeybunch...

Hiya Peaches,

Campaigning? Yes, and in more ways than one would think possible. OBE's taking a back seat for a while coz as alluded above, how much reach can 10% sway public opinion.

Hence, a plotting I went, with quite a few like-minded, determined persons to try a novel approach. It's called 'Barisan Rakyat' with civil society leading the charge for better governance, not political parties.

Lest you think it's a strategy meant only for the GE, I believe it goes beyond that. Because political (and social) awareness within civil society needs to nurtured. There's no 'fast food' solutions for this. Isn't a 'longie' a lot better than a 'quickie'?

Defining one's life by how one lives it ain't easy... but having others willingly sharing the same journey makes the burden lighter.

*Is tonight your turn to get a rub-down or mine? Hmmm.. the OBE-mobile got an empty backseat*

hi honeybunch,

you're a busy man, huh?
imagine that? I'm proud of you. You will make a difference.
I have read the Barisan Rakyat and it sounds promising.
Anyone who reads it will really take time to think and ponder about the future of the country.

great job you guys are doing. malaysians should be proud of y'all!

aaah.....quickies can be ok. But you know, the longer the better.
and ooh..i can already feel the rub-down.

cheers, sweetie.
