Or it was?
Before it was prolonged, it was ended. It had to. A judge made sure of that. What a sad story. It's a story of two people who should not have fallen in love because they were brother and sister. They were twins!
Twins separated at birth and adopted by separate parents later married each other without realising they were brother and sister.
The pair were granted an annulment after a High Court judge ruled the marriage had never validly existed.
The identities of the British pair and details of the relationship and marriage have been kept secret.
But it is known that they were separated soon after birth.
They were never told they were twins.
They did not discover they were blood relatives until after the wedding.
The case was uncovered by Lord Alton in a conversation with a High Court judge.
He used it to highlight perceived deficiencies in the Human Embryology and Tissues Bill, currently going through Parliament.
I can't begin to imagine how that happened. There's a moral in that story, I know.
But isn't it just so tragic?

Oh Gosh! this is just so awful! but i guess they would have continued being married, huh? because they were strangers before falling in love with each other.
But...arrgh. To think that they are siblings and o all things, twins!
really so sad. but it would be wrong for anyone to allow it to go on.
cheers, Eva!
witch,
isn't it terrible? the story lacks details so we really don't know more than they have told us.
anyway...just read your latest posting..
you angry again, woman?
stay cool....
It's common knowledge that twins have the tendency to duplicate each other's thoughts, preferences, etc.
And with instances of twins marrying other twins, isn't this a tragic case of one seeking the other despite being separated at birth, and in spite of being conditioned in their formative years as having no sibling.
A modern day version of the Oedipus
complex? Who knows.
They may not be able to stay married under the circumstances but at least, they found each other.
Just hoping there is a happy ending, after all.
shar honeybunch,
oh...you romantic fool.
there can never be a happy ending when a brother and sister falls in love....
but thanks for trying to "make" it happy.
for some people, life or love really sucks. Big time, hons.
Eva,
Real tragic. They definitely cant continue to be husband and wife as their offspring tend to be degenerative due to inbreeding. I have seen the offsprings of cousins having deformative features. Shar is right that they should rejoice for finding each other again.
let it be a lesson for parents who give away their children for adoption to keep track of their children.
I have also witnessed parents who had given their daghter away but continue to shower the daughter with gifts via the foster parents.
zawi,
i agree.
I think that's why it is important that we know who we are adopting.
thanks fro visiting, zawi!
