He is 52 and state assemblyman for Seberang Jaya.
He speaks Hokkien and Mandarin and Umno thinks THIS gives him the edge over Datuk Anwar Ibrahim.
In short, Arif Shah is gonna whack the crap out of Anwar on Aug 26.

we all know for sure there's big possibility that Anwar gonna win the seat.but how about the votes?will Anwar gonna receive the votes more or less than his wife?
i'm sure Dato Arif Shah arent going to give Anwar an easy run for the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat.
BN is very smart to put him as the chosen candidate to fight against ANWAR. No doubt that he would be a tough opponent for ANWAR in the coming election. He himself is from a local state people, and he fits the criteria to be MP since he is a hardworking person with the addition of his popularity among the local people in permatang pauh and seberang prai.

pak lah doesn't trust anyone in permatang pauh umno becos everyone of them is a suspect...an anwar mole. hahahaaa.
arif shah is an outsider, but known enough by the people.
oh. i think umno knows they're not going to win but they're not going to make it easy for anwar.
and the majority of those voting for anwar -- someone predicted -- will be those who know that anwar is a s****ite (or is s****ist) but hates pak lah and umno so will vote anwar anyway.
